Four Indians won Harvard Business School New Venture Competition awards

Four Indians won the Harvard Business School New Venture Competition (NVC) awards worth over 300000 dollars for new and innovative business and social impact start-ups. It was announced on 1 May 2014 by the Harvard Business School (HBS).
This is 18th Harvard Business School New Venture Competition that supports both students and alumni in launching new business and social impact ventures.

The four Indian are Amrita Saigal, Saurabh Mahajan, Mira Mehta and Pritar Kumar.
Amrita Saigal and Kristin Kagetsu won the grand prize in the Social Enterprise category for her Venture Saathi.  Saathi provides affordable sanitary pads made from waste banana tree fibre to women in rural India. They received a 50000 dollars prize at the competition. 

Saurabh Mahajan, Marcela Sapone and Jess Beck won the prize in the business track category for Alferd venture. The Venture is a caretaker service individuals can us for their daily and weekly tasks like dry cleaning, house cleaning, groceries, laundry, and more. They received 50000 dollars at the competition.

Mira Mehta and Mike Lawrence were the runner-up in the social enterprise track for venture Tomato Jos.  The venture is a vertically integrated tomato processing company that helps small farmers in Nigeria grow tomatoes that can then be made into tomato paste.

Pritar Kumar won the runner up awards in the business category for his Booya Fitness, an on-demand video platform featuring workouts created by the industry’s best boutique gyms and instructors.
