Manavjit Singh Sandhu, the Indian veteran trap shooter on 2 May 2014 jumped to the third spot in the world rankings. He achieved the rank after winning gold at the ISSF World Cup in Tucson, USA, in March 2014. He jumped thirteen positions in the ISSF ranking from his previous rank 16 in men’s trap category.
The 37-year-old Manjeet from Amritsar India with 1228 rating points is behind
• Russian Alexey Alipov (1437)
• Italian Giovanni Pellielo (1298)
On his way to win the World Cup, he defeated two time Olympic gold medalist Michael Diamond of Austria and Alipov, also an Olympic gold winner from Russia.
The ISSF world ranking system
The ISSF world ranking system is based on two key factors of the shooting performance. It includes beside the placing (rank) of the shooter also the result achieved by the shooters in the 15 Olympic shooting events at ISSF supervised championships and competitions.
The ISSF world rankings produce event rankings only. The event rankings evaluate the shooters competing in a single event and determine the world's best shooter in a specific event.
